Dave Showalter, wildlife photographer and author
of Prairie Thunder, will speak about Colorado
grasslands and prairies.

In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed
Executive Order 9066, which forced more than
110,000 Japanese-Americans and people of
Japanese ancestry living on the west coast to be
forced from their homes and moved inland to 10
various camps. One of the camps, called Camp
Amache, was located in southeastern Colorado. This
is a story of survival of more than 7,000 people who
lost everything and were unjustly interned by the
United States government. Don Dexter is an Emmy-
-winning director/producer and his wife Sandy Dexter
is a local author who wrote the screenplay for the
Camp Amache documentary.
